Fuchs Werkzeug- und Maschinenbau GmbH, based in Lebach in Germany's Saarland region, builds special-purpose machines and turn-key welding and assembly fixtures for the automotive, agricultural, construction machinery, and defense sectors. Their work centers on complex joining sequences, which means the components going into their fixtures have to meet a high bar for both dimensional accuracy and edge quality.
The application
Laser and waterjet cutting stainless steel sheet leaves burrs and sharp edges behind, and for fixture components that get handled constantly on the shop floor, weak edge rounding is not just a cosmetic problem, it is an injury risk. Fuchs needed strong, consistent edge rounding across its stainless steel parts, without the labor drag of doing it by hand.
What changed
Fuchs brought in a Q-FIN F600, a three-station grinding and deburring machine built around four oscillating brushes that deburr and round edges in the same pass. The F600's station layout lets Fuchs run higher feed speeds without sacrificing edge consistency, which matters when the goal is processing volume without a quality tradeoff.
On the tooling side, Fuchs runs HERO deburring tools, specifically the HERO 260×2, about 10.2 in., in Blue Edition, chosen for its aggressive abrasive profile on stainless. The combination of high abrasive density and a flexible coating gets strong material removal without burning through tool life early.
Why it matters for a shop like Fuchs's
When your product is a fixture that another manufacturer is going to run production through, edge quality is not optional and neither is throughput. The F600's multi-station design means deburring and edge rounding happen together instead of as separate passes, and pairing it with an abrasive matched to the material, Blue Edition for stainless, with Brown and Grey editions available for universal and aluminum/plastic work, means Fuchs is not compromising finish quality to hit a faster feed rate. That combination is what took a manual, time-intensive step out of their process without touching the edge standard their fixtures have to meet.
Running a Q-Fin line? Our Grinding Brush Disc is our closest configurable match to the tooling described here, available at 260mm in the BLUE edition for Q-Fin, along with PURPLE, BROWN, and GREY. Our Deburring Wheel and Deburring Disc are also configurable for Q-Fin.
